shutter speed/ motion refection (photography)

for the shutter speed/ motion photography assignment i took picture of the beach over fall break and pictures of bugs and picture of the waves. all these things have motion and can be really out of focus or very focused and detailed. i used the rules of composition to make my pictures better by having a structure for my photoshoot. i incorporated my voice as an artist in this photoshoot by taking photos of things i thought were interesting. i think that my strengths were my focused pictures, but my motion pictures were not as good. next time i will spend more time on the assignment to add more quality to the photos.

depth of field

I  took pictures of leaves leaves and my lacrosse gear. i went to my back yard and i went to cool creek park. i set up my scene in nature. i used the rules of composition to make my pictures better by centering them the right way and adding things that make them pictures more interesting. i chose my subject matter to be things that have good color and things that show my personality. i incorporated  my voice as an artist by adding things to the picture to make them unique. this photoshoot made me view my world differently by appreciating space in nature and objects. my strengths in this assignment were showing my voice as an artist. my weakness in this assignment was my knowledge of the camera i was using. i would have used a different setting and camera is i had the option.

the future

Question: where do you see photography in the next 10, 50, 100 years?

i see photography more advanced than we can imagine. photography and technology have advanced so much in the past 10 years that in 10 more years or even 50 that the things that could happen are endless. i think that social media will start to be an even bigger part in the world and everyday life. most people now cant go a day without social media. i think that eventually physical paper photos will be nonexistent. i think everything will be digital and maybe by that time they will be holograms for the most part. technology and art have already converged but i think they will be one and the same in the future. i think that artists will be held in a higher regard in the future because the art that they make will be functional in the real world. i hope that the art and photography of the future will be beyond the realm of our minds right now in 2015.

color composition photoshoot

This is the photo i took for my color yellow composition photo shoot. I chose this photo because i love the way that the top of the flower out of focus but the middle of the flower is in focus. it looks like the flower is poping out of the photo. i used the rules of composition for focus and creative with colors. i think that i used my voice as an artist by choosing this flower. next time i would take a more detailed picture and more subject matter.

philosophy

Q: What is the purpose of a camera?

I think the purpose of a camera is to capture a moment. I think that cameras are used to show the details of moments that our brains might forget if they hadn't been captured right then. I personally know that sometimes if i did something with my friends i will remember it better is there are pictures taken. Memories can fade but pictures can be there to refresh something that could have been forgotten. I love how pictures can show details and they can show small moments that the average person won't see.

the 7 characteristics of creative thinking

Seven Characteristics of Creative Thinking

1. Receptivity - Be open to new ideas; welcome new experiences.
i am open to new ideas and they honestly make art better because they keep art new.

2. Attentiveness - Every experience is potentially valuable.
especially when taking pictures, being attentive is important because the best moments are the ones that the everyday eye misses.

3. Conviction - Tenaciously pursue an independent path.
if you follow other peoples ideas as an artist, your work will never be truly your own, that is why conviction is important.

4. Curiosity - Research unusual topics; analyze unfamiliar systems.
curiosity can be the turning point of any project, it causes people to go out of their comfort zones and find their own great art.

5. Wide Range of Interests - With more components, the number of
combinations increase.
with a larger field of view, you see more which can make any good art ten times better.

6. Seeking Connections - See the similarity between disparate parts.
seeking connections helps because it can give the viewer a good point of interest.

7. Complexity - Combine the irrational with the intuitive.
the irrational is the interesting and the intuitive is what people see every day, together they are the high points of great art and creativity.

Photography blog

Wolfgang Betracchi is a true artistic genius. He has the ability to paint literally anything, including famous artist's work. I think he has more talent than any famous artist because he has the ability to paint all of them when all they could do was their couple famous paintings. I'm not trying to undermine these artists, but it takes serious talent to paint that well.

I think that if someone has this amount of talent they should show it in whatever way they can. I think that they should show it in an individual way. If someone is truly that genuinely good they should be able to showcase their work in their own way.

If I could have any talent I would want the talent of making people happy. I seriously would just want to make people laugh and make their days. That would be the best talent to have because then everyone would be happy and then the small problems that fill everyday life would be irrelevant.

My favorite image

Foster the People in concert 2014
This is my favorite image because it is so interesting. My eye just goes around the whole image because of all the different colors. The lighting is very striking and the angles of the picture are so intriguing. This picture show my voice as an artist because I love pictures with different lighting and with a lot going on. If I was the photographer that took this photo I would have just made the image a little more high quality.

Photography Expectations

During the class photography with Mrs. Hahn, I want to be able to take quality pictures that have more of a meaning than the everyday picture you see on Instagram. I want to have fun in this class and have it as something to look forward to during my day. I loved my art class last year, and I hope I will love this one just as much.

semester 2 art final

This semester in 3D art, I learned so much about creating art and finding my voice as an individual. One of my goals this year was to find out who I am and where I want to go and my art classes helped me do that. In the first semester I was new to Noblesville and didn't know anyone. I made a few of my best friends in my art classes (in 2d and 3D art). This really helped me get comfortable with the school and the people here. My inspiration for most of my art projects was being unique and finding what makes everyone different. When people see my work, I'd like them to think "Wow, that really makes me think…."

When I am creating a project, I don't really always think about what I am doing. I always have a basis for what I want the project to be, but I never really know until I am finished with it. I just get new ideas as I go along, and then I work from there. My projects always have a deeper meaning, but it depends on the viewer to discover what it means to them. I normally select materials and details that will add to the look and meaning of the project. I have music and color as some of the major themes in my work because they both are such a big part of my life.

Being new to Noblesville has impacted me and has made me grow so much this year. This also changed my thought process and the techniques for my art. My work has definitely grown with me. I think that my skill level has gone up dramatically and my creativity has become more of my own instead of influenced my anything else. The most challenging thing in art this year was thinking outside if the box. When there are so many other people trying to create a project along the same lines as my own, I had to learn how to make my work and ideas very unique. I loved almost every single art project that I made this year. There were a couple that didn't embellish all of my skills, but they still turned out pretty well. My favorite artist that our class studied this year was Banksy. I think that it is awesome that he is getting people to really think about what they do and to think about society in general, in a real world context. He really influenced me to put a lot of meaning into my work and into my thought process. Overall, I felt that my art classes helped me grow not only as an artist, but as a person this year and I cannot wait to continue my art work in my photography class next year.
This is one of my art projects make out of cardboard to represent the makeup that can cover up natural beauty.
Here is one of my favorite pictures I have taken.

music is art.

Music is art, although sometimes is gets portrayed as pop culture or just the everyday norm, it is not. It is a true art form that gets taken for granted on a daily basis. People don't think about how much work goes into making good music. We just turn it on the radio or spotify and zone out. Well, music is real art and it takes time and talent to make.

I have a problem with people who just like the music that is popular at the time. Personally, I can't stand most of the music that is popular. It is all the same tune or beat and it gets very annoying really quickly. I like to find developing indie bands and artists who have unique music and who are not mainstream. It is one of my favorite things to do to go on youtube or pandora and click on the recommended bands and listen to their live music, I would highly recommend this to people who are getting bored with the mainstream music on the radio.
